Let’s get this out of the way; This page is not affiliated with MSA or Cairns and Brother, Inc.

This page is intended to be as comprehensive a history as possible in one location, about the Cairn’s and Brother company from formation up to purchase by MSA. The best way I could think to accomplish that is by crowdsourcing. We want enthusiasts to fill in missing information or correct mistakes found here. Previous to this website’s formation, you would have to visit many different sites in order to piece together a history of the company, we want to change that! Sadly, dates are difficult to pin down, and there are mistakes published in many locations because of this. As you look over this site, it may not appear there is much less information than other places, this is simply due to the fact that we are trying to verify dates and information through multiple sources before publishing them here.

Ways you can help; Scan and submit any old or historic Cairns & Bro. documents/pamphlets/books you have and upload them here for all to see and enjoy like an online Cairns museum. We would love input from any Cairns and Brother historians out there.

To this point most of the history and many of the pictures are taken from various sites and pages found on Google and compiled here. This is not an effort to take from them, but simply to gather information to one location. Those pages are cited on the resources page.
